SPAY & NEUTER
IT'S THE LAW!
STOP LITTERS!

All pets living in the city of Dallas are required to be spayed/neutered. This protects your pet's health and helps control the extreme overpopulation of cats and dogs.

EXERCISE & GAMES
WALK! PLAY!
TOYS! FUN!

Dogs are very smart and have lots of energy. Being left alone a lot, without anything to do, can make them bored and anxious which can result in barking, pacing, destruction, or aggression.

SOCIAL & LOVE
BE THEIR
COMPANION

Most dogs are social. Some are very social and need that connection, just like people do. Isolating a dog without socialization may make them anxious, depressed, or insane.

SENSE OF SMELL
A DOG'S NOSE IS VERY POWERFUL.

The most powerful sense for dogs.  Leash walks around your neighborhood, sniffing the sniffs satisfies their innate need for scent stimulation. This is essential mental exercise for your dog.

HEARTWORM
ONE MOSQUITO BITE. HELP THEM.

Heartworm is not contagious from animal to animal. Dogs contract heartworm from a mosquito bite. This will cause sickness, pain, and death. A monthly preventative protects your dog.

Dallas Love Bugs • 3 Pillars For Change

We cannot adopt, foster, or rescue our way out of the dog overpopulation crisis and resulting euthanasia rates. Our community awareness and animal culture must change. Over the next several years, Dallas Love Bugs messaging focus is the below 3 Pillars.

1  —

3 / 3/ 3

A new pet must be integrated into a new home successfully, to stay there. The rate of quick returns and dumps is too high.

2  —

Spay & Neuter

We must curb the production of dogs and cats. It is the law in Dallas that pets over the age of 6 months be sterilized. It is the right thing to do.

3 —

Municipal Shelters

Awareness that municipal shelters exist and understanding their function.  They are often vilified because of ignorance.
